How do I get Garda Vetted?

In Ireland, it is a legal requirement that all Code Club leaders and mentors are vetted via the Garda eVetting process.

Our Child Protection Officer will provide a Vetting Invitation Form (NVB 1) to you. The form must be completed in full using BLOCK CAPITALS and the writing must be clear and legible. The form can be completed digitally, but MUST be printed and signed by hand.

During this vetting process, you are required by law to disclose all of your previous names and addresses. If you do not wish to provide Code Club with details such as your previous names or gender, you should complete the Sensitive Applications Process through the National Vetting Bureau (NVB) before completing this form. This will ensure that sensitive information is only shared with the NVB, and not with us. For more information, contact the Sensitive Applications Team at 0504-27300.

Next, you will need to provide proof of identity documentation.

You will need both of the following:

  • Photo ID such as a passport or driving licence. We cannot accept the Irish Public Services Card.

  • Proof of address dated within the last 3 months, such as a utility bill (gas, electricity, television, broadband) or bank/building society/credit union statement. See the full list of acceptable documents.

Then, you must scan your filled out & signed Vetting Invitation Form (NVB 1) as well as proof of ID and proof of address, combine them into one document, and upload them to the secure Code Club form on https://form.raspberrypi.org/4868893.

Code Club will send you an email with a link attached inviting you to complete the rest of your application online. You have 14 days from the date you open this link to complete the rest of your application online.

Once submitted, Code Club will review your application and submit it to the National Vetting Bureau.

The National Vetting Bureau will process your application and forward your disclosure to Code Club. An email will be sent to you from the National Vetting Bureau, informing you that your disclosure has been viewed by Code Club and a copy of your disclosure will be made available to you upon request.

As soon as reasonably possible the Code Club Garda Vetting Liaison Person will contact the Code Club Leader to notify them of their volunteers passing of the eVetting process. Delays can be expected around peak times such as August, September (when clubs normally resume in Ireland).
